Streamified iOS version 1.5 now live in the App Store!

We’re extremely excited to let you know that version 1.5 of our universal iOS app is now live in the App Store (here’s a direct link)! This is a complete rebuild of the app from the ground up, which is why there was a slight delay in getting this update out to you. Read on for a runthrough of the newest additions to the app!

When you update your app and open it, you’ll notice a few things right away. First, browsing (whether you’re viewing All Streams or just a specific stream) is now full-screen – especially noticeable for iPad users! Tap the header (previously where you could reorganize your streams) to switch what you’re viewing.

While we’re here, tap that header again – you’ll notice a new search option. Putting in a keyword of your choice will search all of your streams’ content for that keyword. Keep in mind that right now you can’t save searches, but the feature does allow you to get an overview of a certain topic at a glance. You can still bookmark posts in this view, as well as save links and share the content to your networks.

Where things will likely look the most different is in the brand new compose view. Tap the same pencil icon in the upper right corner to go to it. Here’s a rundown of what’s new:

First, at the far right of the potential networks you can post to is a new email icon.

  • Enabling this icon will allow you to easily email your post, with any attached URLs or images, using any of the email addresses associated with your iDevice. You can enable sending the post to email simultaneously when you send the post to your social networks, and after hitting “Post” you’ll be taken to a familiar email view. Here you can select a recipient or two, input additional text if desired, and then send the email.

The URL, geolocation, and image indicators on the right side are brown when no URL, location, or image is attached. They’ll turn a grey-blue when there is something attached, and they’re tappable; doing so will bring up more options.

  • For example, if you go to the compose view after viewing a link in the in-app browser and deciding you want to share the page to your social networks, the URL will be attached by default. You can tap the URL indicator in order to remove the URL, in case you change your mind and don’t want to include it anymore.

Let’s take a closer look at the image indicator. Tap it, then either take a new picture with your device’s camera or select a photo from your photo library. You’ll then be taken to a new image editor!

  • Tap on the “Edit” header at the top and you’ll see all the options for adjustments here. Once you’ve selected the adjustment you want to use, tap and move your finger on the touchscreen itself and play around with it. Hitting the check in the upper right corner saves your edit, while the X in the upper left will remove it. Once you’ve saved an edit by tapping the check, tapping on the Edit header and scrolling down will reveal the history of all of your saved edits. When you’re done editing your image, tap the back arrow in the upper left corner to return to the compose view.
  • Oh, and one more thing – Streamified by default saves any images that you shared to networks. You can change this behavior by going to the Streamified settings and turning “Save Photos” off.

Version 1.5 also adds a new stream – Instagram! While Instagram’s photosharing network is closed to 3rd party applications like ours (with the exception of their partners, like Hipstamatic), you can still browse your personal Instagram feed as well as like and comment on any of your friends’ picture posts.

Last but not least, we’re hoping you’ll notice a significant performance and stability increase in this latest version. Please let us know if you experience any issues over at our GetSatisfaction page! Also, if you haven’t joined us yet, we’re on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Happy streaming!
