When One Door Opens…

We first got our feet wet in developing for social media simplification in 2011, with an extension known as Start Google Plus. SGPlus was the result of a desire to be able to streamline the management of multiple social presences and better integrate Google+ with other social networks. Zane’s weekend project quickly became a success and directly led to the beginning of Streamified Inc., in November 2011.

Now, almost 2 years later, we’ve made the hard decision to partially shutter the browser extension. There were a few big reasons behind this call.

The many changes that Google has made to its products, both Google+ itself and the Chrome Web Store, made it difficult to continue to maintain a high quality browser extension. Also, limited programming resources (for the last few months, up until just recently, Zane was our only developer) meant that updating the browser extension in the face of the mutable nature of Google+ put a strain on our team and delayed updates.

As a result, we will try to keep the browser extension updated when able, but it is no longer a supported Streamified product.

What About Mobile?

If you’ve visited our website recently, you’ll also note that links to our apps for Android and iOS have been removed. Both of these apps were not functioning to our standards and we chose to remove them from the platforms’ respective app markets in the meantime, rather than letting them persist to give you a less than optimal experience on mobile. We do plan to rerelease them as soon as possible and we will keep you updated here with our progress.

Let Us Know…

We’re sure you may have questions or comments about these changes to the Streamified suite. Please feel free to get in touch with us by leaving a comment below.

Get The Most Out Of: Mobile Image Editing

In this week’s edition of “Get The Most Out Of…,” we’re taking a look at the mobile app’s image editor. This post is in honor of our upcoming photo contest; we’d love to see your pictures!

Image Editing with Streamified
In version 1.5 of the mobile app, we released a brand new image editor! Though we covered the basics of how to access the image editor in that post, today we’ll go a little more in depth on all of the editors’ features.

Keep in mind that Streamified, by default, saves any images that you shared to networks. You can change this behavior by going to the Streamified settings and turning “Save Photos” off.

Streamified Photo Contest!

We’re having a contest!

In honor of our mobile app’s new image editor and the upcoming release of the 1.6 build of our app, we want to see the best photos you can take and edit with Streamified!

Tweet us your pictures from the mobile app for consideration - you can enter as many times as you want before September 15! Make sure that your tweet has all of the following:

  • Our username somewhere in the tweet - @streamified
  • Our contest’s hashtag - #streampics
  • Text that you wouldn’t be ashamed of if people were retweeting it

Remember, you can submit more than one picture!

Each photo will have the original tweet submission’s link next to it. Then, during a soon-to-be-announced range of dates, voting will occur! Some things to keep in mind about voting:

  • In order to vote for a picture you liked, do an official Twitter retweet of the photo submission
  • You can vote for more than one picture by retweeting them
  • Feel free to encourage your friends, enemies, and everyone in between to vote for your picture

After voting is finished, we’ll put up the winning 3 pictures on our blog and reach out to the winners.

  • The first place winner will receive a $50 iTunes gift card
  • The second place winner will receive a $25 iTunes gift card
  • The third place winner will receive a $15 iTunes gift card

If you have any questions, let us know on Twitter or comment here.

Stay tuned for an image editor tutorial tonight in anticipation of this contest!

It gives you vids that sound as good as they look and even fits over your iPhone case!

Sneaky recording is no longer an option with this thing. ;)

Streamified | All Your Social Streams in One Beautiful Journal [Sponsor}

minimalmac:

Add separate streams for your social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Goog Reader, blogs (and many more), then watch them come together chronologically in the “All Streams” view. More than just a reader, Streamified allows you to update your status, capture photos, share links, “like” posts, retweet, reblog and more from your favorite social networks.

Streamified is an app for iOS that is designed to take all of those various feeds you need to pay attention to — from Facebook to Twitter to Tumblr to various blogs — and gather them together into one place.

For instance, I’m not a big Facebook fan but I am involved in a number of upcoming events that are using it for organizing and issuing updates. I also have a few news-type sites that I like to check out but don’t need to see immediately. Streamified has been wonderful in allowing me to check all of those things out in one app, on my schedule, and on my terms. I can bookmark them as I scroll through then choose what to do with that stuff from there (including Instapaper support which, for me, is essential). Plus, it’s a really great group of folks who care about user feedback and have a commitment to make the best tool possible. They are sponsoring this week’s RSS feed and I urge you to check them out.

We’re sponsoring Minimal Mac, a wonderful site, this week! If you’re interested in all things Apple and (perhaps more importantly) looking at what is “enough” for you and how you can live minimally, this site is for you.
